NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
