[ English ]

Recently, I got a question from one of my students. It stated, "What exactly is pot odds and is Texas holdem pot odds system worth pursuing?"

One thing to bear in mind, any kind of Texas holdem probabilities can and usually do acquire quite confusing. On the other hand, let me break pot probabilities down in really basic terms. Please note that we are only discussing Pot Odds. Not outs, implied probabilities, easy probabilities or something else like that.

In short, pot probabilities are the probabilities you receive when determining the ratio of the amount of money in the pot to the amount of money it’ll expense you to call the wager.

For example, let’s say you’re heads up with Gambler A. If there is one hundred and fifty dollars in the pot following the flop and Gambler A places a $20 wager it will expense you only thirteen per-cent of the pot to stay in the hand. If your likelihood of succeeding is greater than thirteen per cent it is a no-brainer to call because you’d have good pot odds.

That is all there is to it truly. Texas hold’em pot probabilities boils down to one point. If your chance of winning is far better than the ratio of the pot size to the wager then you might have excellent pot odds. If it is lower than you might have bad pot odds.

One additional thought about Holdem pot odds. You are still playing the player more so than anything else. Wager on the player more than your starting hands or the size of the chip stack and even, yes the pot probabilities.

If you’ll be able to learn to read your opponents well you’ll be able to utilize pot odds to aid justify or solidify your decision. Except Texas holdem pot odds do not need to be an end all whenever you generate a poker judgement.

Knowing and understanding how Hold em pot odds work could be a useful and successful system. Except again don’t generate Texas hold em pot odds your only strategy.
