NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
