Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While playing online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
