NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
