Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount.
