NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
