The Importance of Poker Seating
Hold’em is simply about players and position. All experienced Holdem players agree that seating in no limit Hold’em is critically important. Playing your hole cards in last spot may be a whole lot more profitable than in starting poker spot. This is because much more info is assembled before acting.
As an example, I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local casino. I bumbled in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer button, just to partake in some fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A gambler in early spot laid a fifteen dollar wager. Two entrants fold and it was my turn. I should have folded, but his action seemed a bit off. I ID’d this individual as a weak-tight guy, and regularly if he held the strongest hand he would simply check, so I called.
The turn arrived with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My opposer placed a further wager of $20. I hesitated a little bit, but decided to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars on top of his twenty dollars. He folds and I won the money.
Wagering at last spot gives you an idea where you stand by observing how entrants react and bet. On the other hand, people at early position might use their poker position to check-raise the late seated antagonists and corner them afterwords at the end. In Texas Hold’em, both spots, late and early must be bet cautiously.
