No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
